To Whom it May Concern:
Sally has worked at The Highlands for five years as our seasonal Horticulturist. She has primary responsibility for the care and maintenance of our two-acre formal garden and the areas around the mansion. In this capacity she has worked with a diverse range of volunteers, staff, Board members, contractors and the public.
Sally has consistently proven herself to be willing to engage and work with anyone interested in or involved with our Sinkler Garden. She has embraced the opportunity to teach students from Carson Valley Children’s Aid, a social services organization which supports troubled teens who need job skills, even while recruiting volunteer help from local garden clubs and retirement villages. Sally is able to work with volunteers from vastly different circumstances.
Energetic and resourceful, Sally has incorporated numerous innovations in our garden designed to make maintenance more efficient while preserving the early 20th-century appeal of the garden. She has assisted The Highlands’ educator by providing plant and gardening information for summer camp programming, and has always been a wonderful asset during large group tours of the garden, answering guests’ plant and horticulture questions.
I can enthusiastically recommend Sally as one who is highly motivated. Her outgoing and very friendly nature make her very approachable and draw people to her.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Margaret Bleecker Blades Executive Director
