PHS Pop-Up Garden at the Viaduct
Dec 2015 – June 2016
I was tasked with the transformation of the PHS Rail Park at the viaduct, a 7-month, multi-partner interdisciplinary project funded by the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage highlighting the evolving Rail Park. It was also a community building effort for a neglected neighborhood. The space was raw, with its only appeal being an abandoned train line and overgrown weeds just North of Chinatown. By opening night, we had a string of Uber’s 20 cars deep for four hours while Mayor Kenney and dozens of our city’s top business leaders danced, drank, and toasted our city. Events are successful when the space incorporates sensory experiences that utilize materials, green elements and surrounding areas. The transforming experience allows attendees to have personal experience.
